Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
What is it?
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy ® (SP) is a form of treatment in which attention to the body and dialogue are both equally important. SP was developed in the US by Pat Ogden in the 1980s. In SP's vision, the body tells its own life story, bringing out emotions and thoughts. The body and body sensations therefore form the most important starting point for treatment.
Why SP?
In clinical practice, SP has proven its value in treating psychotrauma, attachment problems and personality problems.
How does it work?
We work with 'small' experiential experiments that are discussed and coordinated in contact with the client. It is important to pay attention to what is happening in the moment on a sensorimotor, emotional and cognitive level (embedded relational mindfulness). Experiments help to gain more and better insight into problems and provide support to solve or change these problems.
