Emotionally Focused Therapy

Birgitte Beelen is inspired by the approach of Emotionally Focused Therapy and therefore integrates this approach into hers.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is the kind of therapy guided by emotions being the driving force in our lives. Especially for couples this kind of therapy has evolved to an internationally known and accepted form of therapy. In EFT distinct perspectives converge: that of emotional attachment, the systemic or interpersonal and the experiential or intrapersonal perspective. EFT not only considers communication and behavioral patterns between partners, but above all what the mutual attachment and reaching look like. EFT exerts a strongly positive effect on the attachment in a partner relationship. EFT proved to be effective with distinct couples and in case of psychical or physical complaints as well.
